Whelp, no one can afford new RAM or graphics cards anymore. So, if you’ve got a limited budget for PC gaming at the moment, you might want to forego PC parts in favor of a different kind of upgrade instead—like leveling up to an OLED monitor. Right now, you can score an LG UltraGear 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor for just $499.99 on Amazon, which is a whopping $400 off its retail price.
With a 2560×1440 resolution and a speedy 240Hz refresh rate, this monitor hits the “sweet spot” of PC gaming at the moment, giving you better detail than a standard 1080p monitor but none of the stress of 4K. That speed is more than enough for online multiplayer, too. Connections are a little basic—just DisplayPort and two HDMI, with only a couple of USB-A ports for extras. That means this isn’t a great companion for a USB-C gaming laptop unless you already have a dock.
But with that fast OLED panel and support for both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync, this makes an excellent upgrade for any desktop PC. It also comes with a two-year warranty on the OLED panel, a nice bonus. LG’s gaming monitors have pretty good stands, but this is also VESA-compatible if you want to add a monitor arm.
This monitor has been $900 for several months, so this is a steep discount! Amazon doesn’t say how long the “limited time deal” will last. If you’re looking for something bigger or cheaper, check out PCWorld’s roundup of the best monitors on the market.
